Cal Bebee was born with a love of wildlife and a fascination with the natural world, but he came to photography in a rather unusual manner:  while employed in the 1980s by the Two Rivers (WI)  Police Department, Cal was assigned to photograph crime scenes.  "I learned how much a photo holds that the passing eye misses."  He also learned to use a camera and was hooked.

Moving to the Lewistown, Montana area after retirement in the '90s, Cal combined his two passions and began photographing wildlife, studying the flora and fauna of his new state.  His work has appeared in  several state publications, sells nationally and is frequently donated to the Montana chapter of Pheasants Forever; he has won local, state and national photo contests and is known for the sensitivity and honesty  he brings to his art.

"None of the animals you see here are high-fence animals; they are all free-range.  I've found that I have photographed the same animal several times over the years simply because I know where he ranges."  You will see that sense of respectful familiarity and wonder in his photography... Enjoy!
